You can’t use my name to be popular – MP for Okaikwei North tackles NPP PC

MP for Okaikwei North, Theresa Lardi Awuni MP for Okaikwei North, Theresa Lardi Awuni

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Okaikwei North Constituency, Theresa Lardi Awuni, has thrown subtle jabs at Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the constituency, accusing her of seeking to use her to gain popularity in the area.

Lardi Awuni alleged that Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei had previously failed in her attempt to use an assembly member against her to be popular.

She described Ms. Asiamah Adjei as an Akuapem deportee (Ms. Asiamah Adjei has ditched the Akuapem North Constituency, where she is the current MP, and is seeking to be MP for Okaikwei North), who is hellbent on using her to gain popularity.

“Akuapem deportee wants to use my name to be popular in Okaikwei North after a failed attempt to use Akwetema assembly members to be popular. The market is not marketing, and my people are popping the cheap drink you brought them with the cloth. Next time, ask well before coming,” Awuni wrote.

Theresa Lardi Awuni's comments come after she came under fire for refusing to vote in favor of a World Bank loan meant for development projects in her constituency, the Okaikwei North Constituency.
