Man found dead in a galamsey pit

A man, believed to be in his 60s, has been found dead in a galamsey pit at Akyem Oda Asomdwe in the Eastern Region.

He has been identified as Kujo Dzijro.

Emerging details suggest that he was a security guard at a galamsey site in Akyem Oda Asomdwe and was on duty at the time.

Reporting from the area on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Akuapem Broda mentioned that it remains unclear what led to the death of Mr. Dzijro.

Some residents in the area noted that the man appeared healthy when he arrived at work, which makes his death in the pit all the more puzzling.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
