Learn to close your mouth about your achievements - Delay

Prominent Ghanaian media personality, Deloris Frimpong Manso, also known as Delay, has urged her followers to be silent about their personal achievements.

In a post made on Facebook on May 20, 2024, Delay said that often, the downfall of one's dreams is not due to lack of effort or potential, but due to the sharing of these aspirations with others.

She emphasized the importance of keeping one's plans private, suggesting that sharing too much can lead to others, intentionally or unintentionally, undermining what could have been a successful outcome.

"Buying a house? Close your mouth. Buying a new car? Close your mouth. Getting married? Close your mouth. Going on a holiday? Close your mouth. Going to do a course? Close your mouth. Got promoted? Close your mouth.

"99% of the time, the reason that our dreams/visions don't come true when they are supposed to, is because we open our mouths too soon to the wrong people at the wrong time," she said.

She pointed out that even those who appear to be friends might be envious and could negatively impact one's success.

Delay also reminded her audience that this caution extends to family members, who might also experience hidden envy.

"We were wrong to share our projects/successes with people who claim to be 'friends.' The envy and the low-key jealousy are enough for people to feed off of and tear down what COULD HAVE BEEN before it even happens, so... Close your mouth!!!

"The majority of your 'friends' want to see you do well but never better than them!! And just a reminder! Even family members have hidden envy!!!

However, despite these warnings, Delay added that such envy is not enough to thwart what God has intended for an individual, stating, "But, they can't stop what God has for you!"
