Ghanaian comedian cum skitsmaker, Sadik Sulley, better known as SDK, has openly criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his statements regarding the ongoing power outages that the country is grappling with.

SDK contested President Akufo-Addo's assertion that the erratic power supply had been rectified, citing his own experiences of power cuts following the president's announcement.

He expressed frustration over the failure of the president and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to implement solutions to resolve the power issues, accusing them of deceiving the public.

SDK, in his critique of the president, branded him as 'wicked' and charged him with apathy towards the hardships Ghanaians endure due to power outages, amid a chorus of grievances.

"How does it feel to lie, @NAkufoAddo? They just cut off my power... wicked man," he posted on his X page, as reported by GhanaWeb.

SDK's comments on 'dumsor' follow calls from the public for the government to address the erratic power supply or provide a power distribution schedule.

Background

Earlier in his 'Workers Day' address, President Akufo-Addo stated that the recent power disruptions have been addressed following the repair of transformers by the ECG.

"The transformer maintenance issues have been settled. We've seen a consistent power supply nationwide, with no reports of load shedding as of yesterday...

"I am assured that the regrettable period of 'dumsor' is behind us," President Akufo-Addo declared.

Public Outcry

In recent times, numerous people, including those in political circles, have raised alarms about the inconsistent electricity supply affecting certain areas.

The authorities and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have opted not to publish a load-shedding timetable, explaining that the intermittent power is due to maintenance work in progress.
