Ghanaian actress cum philanthropist, Fella Makafui, has shared her opinion on how the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the government can manage the recent power outage (dumsor) that has generated controversy in the public domain.

According to her, the tension in the country will ease if the government heeds the call of Ghanaians and releases a load-shedding timetable to help individuals plan according to the schedule.

She noted that, in light of the calls for demonstrations against the government over the erratic power supply, she believes that such calls will diminish if a timetable is made available to the public.

Speaking on the United Showbiz programme aired on UTV and monitored by GhanaWeb, Fella said, “I think what will help is the publication of a timetable that will enable us to know the areas that will be affected [by the power outage] at certain times.

"If they [the government] can do that, I am sure it will ease the tension on us a bit. We can also plan based on that schedule. I did not attend the 2016 DumsorMustStop demonstration,” she told MzGee during the show.

The actress failed to give a definite response when quizzed about whether she would join a demonstration that was recently called by actress Yvonne Nelson against the government.

Recently, many people, including politicians, have raised concerns about the unstable power supply in certain areas.

Meanwhile, during the State of the Nation's Address (SONA) on February 27, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that his administration deserves to be applauded after having avoided dumsor' (power outage) for seven years since he assumed office.

The government and the ECG have declined to introduce a load-shedding timetable, stating that the irregular power supply is a result of ongoing maintenance works.
