Akufo-Addo orders Police to arrest hooligans in Savelugu crisis

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has emphasized that hooligans within his ruling New Patriotic Party will have no protection from government.

The President minced no words in condemning the act of hooliganism taking a centre stage in the governing party during the swearing-in ceremony of Sophia Akuffo as new Chief Justice Monday afternoon.

He warned: “To persons perpetrating acts of lawlessness in the name of being members of the ruling party, let me make it clear to you that you will find no shield in my government from the law.”

There is uneasy calm up-north in Savelugu following irate youth standoff with police last week over attempts to prevent government’s local representative of the area, Aishatu Seidu from taking office as DCE.

But Mr. Akufo-Addo urged the police to do everything in their power to bring to book all those who fall foul of the law.”

He adds: “We cannot have development which will bring jobs to our youth without order.”
