Vice Chairperson for Ghana Women’s League Board, Roslyn Amoh fears the country is not ready to host the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The West African giants secured the hosting rights to the 2018 edition of the eight-nation competition last year.

But the country has yet to take any major step towards a successful organization as at 460 days to kickoff.

“Personally I’m concerned and worried. There is nothing to show that we are prepared to host the tournament,” she told starrsportsgh.com.

“How can we even start preparations when the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) has not even been named?”

It is the first time Ghana will be hosting the competition which will be in its 11th edition.

“We have always been crying to host the event. Now, we have it and it looks like we are not concerned or bothered about timing and preparations,” Mrs. Amoh added.

A few months back, Ghana’s Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah mentioned in an interview that stakeholder consultations were underway with a Local Organization Committee expected to be announced for the Women’s Afcon in due course but there has been no word yet.

The 2018 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for November 17 to December 1, 2018.

The tournament also doubles as the African qualifiers to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top three teams will qualify.
