Ghanaians must respect Prez Dramani Mahama's authority

Founder of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has called on Ghanaians to respect the authority of the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, after he took the Oaths of Allegiance and Office.

President John Dramani Mahama was on Monday January 7, 2013, sworn into office by the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woode, as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic at the Independence Square in Accra.

Shortly after the President's installation, the PPP's flagbearer in the 2012 General Elections, posted on social media site facebook; "A "new" President has been sworn into office today. All Ghanaians are bound to respect his authority just as we are required to ensure that he is accountable to the people and works in a transparent manner in our interest. Yes, there is a legal challenge to his being in office".

Dr. Nduom urged the parties in that legal challenge to go about it in a manner that will make Ghana stronger and proud. "All must accept the verdict of the Supreme Court," he added.

"My prayer is that we all join together to seek change in the manner with which we pursue political office and bring about reforms to our electoral laws and systems. We must have a strong, credible Electoral Commission".

"Otherwise our future will be in jeopardy. God bless our Homeland Ghana. Help us to resist oppressors rule. Make our Nation great and strong. And its people prosperous at Home".
