To some of us who have been around for sometime now conflict in mining areas is a result of indiscipline in our society. In 1966 we witnessed the dismissal of appointment of about 400,000 people from the Brigades, 518 top civil servants in 1969 and 1986 witnessed the redundancy of about 200,000 people from the civil and public service.
It is a fact that 200,000 of those dismissed from state employment in 1966 remained unemployed till their death. Under that situation we would have had a mass of marauding human beings excavating everywhere for gold and diamond, but that did not happened.
Some researches do not take into consideration historical facts. Our people say when you swallow a mouth full of water or food at once you get choked. We are all aware that developed capitalist countries partly solve their unemployment problems through state intervention and an example was the recession in the U.S. in the 1930s. Just after 30years of independence we were advised by the Breton Woods Institutions to implement what even the home of WB started to implement in the 1980s. Whiles developed capitalist countries have various schemes to lesson the problems of unemployment, we put our socioeconomic life on autopilot.

I wonder why money should be spent on researches on topics whose outcomes are already known. What is needed are concrete solutions to the problem.

What other findings did the research reveal? Because conflicts are naturally linked with unemployment. The devil gets the idle hands busy.
