Election Petition: NDC eager to prove innocence – Adawudu

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Victor Adawudu has given indications that the party is “extremely eager" to commence with court proceedings on the 16th of April, 2013.

The President and the NDC have both been partially served with some of the affidavits of evidence filed by the petitioners in the election dispute case before the Supreme Court.

In an interview with Citi News, Lawyer Adawudu stated that he and his team have “done the preparatory work” and are thus waiting to be fully served with the affidavits of evidence to enable them respond accordingly for hearing of the substantive case to begin.

“I think we are ready and eager to go into the ring and slide it out in the court to prove to the world that yes we won the election and it was free and fair.”

The hearing of the substantive case of the 2012 election petition is scheduled to commence on April 16, 2013.

The 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, his Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party’s National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey are challenging the results of the 2012 Presidential elections which saw the President, John Mahama emerge the winner of the polls.
