All set for Paragliding Festival @ Kwahu

Preparations have been put in place for this year’s edition of the paragliding festival to be held at Odweanoma Mountains near Atibie in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region during this Easter.

The annual paragliding festival which is being organised to promote domestic tourism in the country is expected to attract a large number of tourists as well as 15 pilots, who are yet to arrive from other parts of the world for the festival.

The festival which has gained prominence in the West Africa sub- region is expected to attract a number of tourists who would be flying from the Odwenanoma Mountains to the landing site at Nkawkaw at a height of more than 2,000 feet above sea level.

In addition to the paragliding festival, there would be series of activities being organised by a number of event organisers at the Kwahu Mountains to commemorate this year’s Easter. Some of the activities include street jams, concert party show, highlife and hiplife musical concerts, omo tuo party, football gala and a host of other activities.

Some of the Ghanaian musicians invited to perform at the event include, Kofi B, K.K Fosu, Abrantie Amakye Dede, Nana Acheampong, Castro, Guru, Stone Bwoy, Daasebre Dwamena, Pop Skinny, George Darko and a host of others.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, has expressed satisfaction at the preparation made towards the Kwahu paragliding festival at Atibie in the Kwahu South District.

She said rehabilitation works on the 10-kilometre Nkawkaw/Atibie had almost been completed and foreign pilots who would fly the tourists have started arriving.

The Minister, who was briefing the media after inspecting the works, disclosed that the police administration would dispatch 500 police personnel to the Kwahu area to ensure security.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the National Ambulance Service would also provide assistance and other emergency services.
