STC buses to have Wi-Fi on-board

Managing Director of the Intercity STC Coaches Limited Samuel Nuamah Donkor has promised a range of innovations being carried out to better services provided by the state transport company.

“We are going to roll out some products,” Mr Nuamah Donkor told journalists on Tuesday, July 22. He said plans are advanced to fit all buses of the company with wireless internet services to enable passengers browse for free when on board.

“People who buy tickets online will have rebates,” he added. The company is said to be positioning itself for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Accra soon.

Already, an agreement has been reached with Swedish bus-manufacturing company, Scania, to supply 300 buses for the project. Parliament last week also approved a loan facility for government to secure more buses to boost the country's road transport sector.

Mr Nuamah Donkor said STC will engage the youth to offer on-board services such as toilet facilities for passengers to meet the contemporary operations of intercity transport.
