GIJ crowned champions at National Media Games

The Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) were crowned champions at the maiden edition of the National Media Games at the El-Wak Stadium on Saturday, 17th August 2019.

GIJ were champions in three distinctive sporting disciplines which earned them the overall team at the National Media Games. The top West African Communication school were victorious in Athletics, Volley Ball and Football.

GIJ competed against 13 Media Houses and 2 other Media Training Institutions at the games which featured seven sporting disciplines in both men and women categories.

The Media Games witnessed the participation of Media General, New Times Corporation, Ghana News Agency, Class Media Group, Global Media Alliance, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, AUCC, NAFTI, GIJ and other teams at the games.

The Students Representative Council of GIJ in a statement congratulated their gallant athletes and sportsmen for their impeccable performance at the games.

“The S.R.C appreciates the performance of our players and encouragement from our fans/supporters who marched into the stadium to cheer us to victory”, a statement signed by the GIJ SRC reads.

The Ghana Institute of Journalism was awarded a cash prize of GH¢ 10,000 for their impressive performance.
