Chief Coach Withdraws From C'wealth Games

The Chief Athletics coach, S. S. Atuahene, has offered to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games in the national interest and to save the country from a possible embarrassment.

The decision follows a threat issued by Ghanaian foreign athletes to boycott the games if Atuahene, who is alleged to have been involved in visa racketeering and other malpractices whenever he took athletes outside the country, is allowed to lead them to the event in Manchester.

Mr Edward Osei-Kwaku, Minister of Youth and Sports told GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday that the coach voluntarily decided to withdraw from the games.
