Ghana’s Fastest Human attracts Cowbell support

In a plan to blow up and grow the annual Junior Elite Athletics Championships to become big in Ghana, just like the famous Jamaica boys and girls Athletics Championships in Jamaica, Cowbell has been unveiled as Official Title Sponsor for this year's Junior Elite Athletics Championships.event.

Promasidor Ghana Limited producers of Cowbell products will sponsor the yearly event that will help unearth student talents under the age of 16.

The successful athletes from the Championships will receive Athletic Scholarships initiated by the Barbarossa Foundation, to study and train at the Aspire Academy in Qatar, just like is being done with Junior Ghanaian footballers.

Promasidor Ghana Ltd’s Head of Communications, Kwabena Asamoah, said his company aims at developing other sporting activities in the country.

"We started opearting in Ghanain 1999 and have engaged in various sporting events in Ghana, including cycling, boxing etc. We have put in a lot of efforts to develop athletics as well especially in Junior and Senior High schools. It is our aim to help the growth of the various sporting disciplines in Ghana."

Hon. Joseph Yamin, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports urged the media to play its role in promoting the other sporting events in Ghana such as athletics and cycling.

"I will entreat the media to pay more attention to the other sports. The Ministry of Sports is doing its best to secure sponsorship for athletics. We have agreed with top companies to sponsor some athletes from JHS to SHS.

Four athletes who qualified from last year's Cowbell Junior Elite Athletics Championships returned from Qatar after they competed in 100m, 400m, Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump.

They are Francis Aidoo (14yrs) from Ghana National, Blance Otoo (14yrs) from Mfantsipim, both in the Central region, Emmanuel Bonsi (15yrs) from Victory Prep Sch Tarkwa & Emmanuel Opoku (14yrs) from Amakom Primary in the Ashanti region.

The best student athletes from all schools will vie for a major competition to select the overall best junior athlete in Ghana in all the athletics disciplines. This will be an annual 'Interco' type competition of the best of all Junior Athletes.
