Kunta Kinte cries out: I can walk Submitted on 2009-11-21 05:34:37 ![]() He’s made things look rather simple for himself just like their hit track “simple”; Kunta Kinte, real Name, Nana Nsiah Amankwah, a member of the duo “Bradez” has refuted rumours making rounds that he can no longer walk. Speaking to Akwasi Aboagye, host of Peace Fm’s “Entertainment Review” programme on Thursday, November 19, Kunta admitted that he has been sick for about five months now of mild stroke. Though he is still not fully cured , he said he is 90% ok. “It was very serious and scary in the beginning but now by the grace of the almighty God I can walk, I can now sing, rap, I am able to do all I used to do before I fell sick,” Kunta stated. He also denied that he was afflicted by paralysis as being speculated in the media.Kunta who made an emotional appearance in a wheel chair accompanied by a nurse, at the Miss Malaika finals at the Accra International Conference Centre over the weekend which was also live on TV explained that, he decided to partner Stone, his brother, in order to let his fans know that he is now fit and strong. “I intentionally came on stage in a wheel chair and also intentionally stood at one place without moving on stage. It was part of our stage craft. "A lot of people thought I was still lying down flat, that I cannot do anything. "So I stood up from the wheel chair to prove them wrong. If you were with me in Kumasi now, you will see I am walking around confidently,” he said. Asked to substantiate some newspaper reports that he wept at backstage after he appeared on stage, Kunta had a big laugh and said.“They are all not true; the papers just want to be sensational, so I don’t take them serious. That I am crying for what? Why should I cry? It’s not true,” he stated.Sounding rather bubbly on-air, the 21-year-old rapper said his fans should watch out for his next performance because it is possible he will walk on stage for all to see. Reacting to allegations that he snatched someone’s girlfriend, who in return dealt with the young hiplife artiste spiritually, which is the result of his ill health, Kunta said: “I have heard all what people are saying but none of them is true. I was sick like any other person and there is nothing else attached.” “We want to use this opportunity to thank God almighty for seeing us through. Its true my brother is sick but by His grace he is fine. "Only God knows why certain things happen, so nobody should be worried. They should rather rejoice and thank God for giving Kunta Kinte another chance to live,” Stone the other member of Bradez stated. Kunta who is also the younger brother of the acclaimed “Best Rapper Alive”, Okyeame Kwame, is expected to return to school, at the University of Ghana Legon, next year, after deferring his course for one year as a result of the stroke attack he suffered.

The school after every six weeks of training holds mini graduation ceremonies for students. After four sessions of mini graduation ceremonies, a mass graduation is held where all graduates come together for a bigger celebration. This year’s event is expected to be bigger than last year’s as it will be full of activities, including modelling. It is expected to attract a number of important personalities in the fashion and modelling industries, as well the showbiz industry. The agency does not only teach people how to model on the runway, they also coach their models on how to control themselves and walk gracefully in public places. Graduates, some as young as 4, who will take part in the ceremony will be given their professional modelling certificates for studying at Exopa Burge. Joycelyn Nketia, General Manageress of the Exopa Modelling Agency told BEATWAVES on Monday that the graduation ceremony, among other objectives, is to create a platform for the models to interact and become familiar with one another. The ceremony, she indicated, is scheduled to start in the afternoon and end late in the evening with an after party at the Cinderella’s Night Club, behind the Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, she said management is not leaving stones unturned for its upcoming L Fashion Night for plus-size models on December 24. The event, which was introduced just last year, aims at providing a platform for plus-size models to strut their God-given bodies, as well as to help nurture the ones who may be interested in a modelling career. Beyond that, it is also to append some innovation into Ghana's fashion industry. Auditions for the exciting event are scheduled to commence on November 25 at the Exopa Burge modelling school.
