Patrick "All Weather" Allotey challenges Mayweather

Ghana’s World Boxing Council (WBC) International Welterweight Champion, Patrick Allotey has made a bold attempt to challenge American top Pound for Pound Champion, Floyd Mayweather, and called on promoters to put the fight on.

Allotey who successfully defended his title for the second time against Patrick Sou Toke of Sweden before his home fans said he has what it takes to beat Mayweather and he will shock the world if he is given the opportunity.

Allotey, popularly called the “Poisonous Arrow” before lately taken his second name “All Weather” hinted that he is rising up and becoming better by the days, whilst Mayweather is getting older.

He thanked his fans from Chorkor, Bukomn and James Town for praying and supporting him to retain his title. Now boasting of a record of 26 fights with no defeat, he thanked Anthony Kermah for giving me the chance to fight in Sweden, against a home boy who had massive support and a rich Olympic background, with over 250 amateur fights.

Coach Ofori Asare, the national team trainer who has handled Allotey throughout his boxing career commended the WBC International Welterweight Champion for being respectful and taking instructions.

He noted that despite his none amateur experience, he outclassed his opponent and observed that Allotey was self-motivated and can do better if encouraged. Allotey’s manager popularly called Tagor said his ward has done extremely well and should be encouraged as he joins the WBC World Cup series. He noted that they are ready to raise the flag of Ghana very high in boxing rings and that is where Allotey would get the opportunity to have a crack at Mayweather’s crown. Kotey Dzanie aka Alloway, President of the United Boxing Coaches Association congratulated Allotey for going to an opponent’s home town to win in round 6 through a knock out.

Peter Zwennes, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority praised Allotey and prayed that he trains hard to become a real WBC Champion.

He announced that plans are advanced to bring back the Maltine Boxing League to unearth new boxers. He said the GBA was in touch with the Street Academy organized by Ataa Lartey to revive juvenile boxing to create a new breed of future champions. He also put across that the regional outreach programme is coming on very soon and will start from the Central region.
