Ghana’s horticultural potential to be given a boost

The second annual Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) is set to open on Friday, 29th August, 2014 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park to showcase the immense potential of Ghana’s gardens and flowers for job creation and income generation.

The theme for the 11-day event is; "Gardening for Value: Health, Beauty, Jobs and Income."

The show brings together florists, horticulturalists, policy makers, home owners, garden lovers and real estate developers among others. Activities lined up for the show include an exhibition, a conference, workshops on gardening, fashion shows and picnics.

Ghana’s first horticultural industry magazine called ‘Bloom,’ which is dedicated to exploring opportunities within the industry, would be launched at the show.

The Chief Executive of Stratcomm Africa, Ms Esther Cobbah, expressed appreciation about the positive response Stratcomm Africa had received from exhibitors and the public and said all was set for the opening of the exhibition on August 29, 2014.

She encouraged flower enthusiasts and the public to patronise the exhibition to take advantage of the business opportunities that abound in garden and flowers.

Mr Steven Abban, Group Head, Personal Banking of Access Bank, the lead Sponsor for Garden & Flower Show 2013 and 2014, lauded the theme for the year and said it aligned well with Access Bank’s sustainable banking philosophy as well as its desire to contribute to solving growing global concerns about the environment.
