A 16 year old already with a two year old child and these are the people an MP like Muntaka is advocating to be married off. Who has been impregnating this young girl? I bet it will be an older male who has taken advantage of the death of the girl's mother to molest this child. The father of these children should be found and questioned.

What the guy is simply saying is that, instead of them giving birth without knowing the father of their kids( as in this case ) or their fathers, uncles end up being the fathers of their kids as a result of rape, defilement, let’s see if by arranging or allowing ( on trial bases ) a legal marriage for this age group will solve the problem since we don’t have concrete solution to this canca that is spreading like wild fire in our society. Don’t forget that , it is the village girls who are vulnerable like this girl and I think Muntaka’s suggestion is geared towards these village girls. Let’s assume this girl has been married, at least the situation would have been different than the hardship she finds herself in without the father of her kids. My bullet prove solution to this problem will be a SHARIA LAW that bans women from having sex till they got married at the age of 18.Aaaaaaaaa.... Did I mention SHARIA LAW, sorry Lonto boy, unfortunately that is the only solution I think we have left and severe punishment ( capital punishment ) for any IDIOT who will defile , rape these minors to deter others .
Me being an Akyem and came not very far from where this incident happened , I take this issue very serious and of course the same to all mankind. This is just the tip of the icebeg in Ghana . I see a lot in my travels. Mr.Sarpong , You are doing everything to nail this guy without offering alternative solutions to his which I think it’s not fair.

she is a child and depending on what she went through before and during upbringing of first child she might have gone through psychological trauma. I can bet you none of both children have a responsible father who is man enough to take charge. this wouldn't have happened. those men are the real culprits. As a male Doctor I am ashamed of how some of my fellow males impregnate without looking at consequence and obligations first. even Dogs can impregnate. real men take full responsibility and are ther financially, emotionally etc . show you are not just a mammal but one of higher intellect. for this girl the social welfare should ensure that it is thoroughly investigated and a doctor does mental assesment.some mental illness are difficult to discern unles by trained psychologist/psychiatrist. and the Judiciary should have leniency when mmetting out punishment .more to that She just lost her mother two years ago that's about same time girl got pregnant .this girl might have had post partum depression at that time beacause this 14 year old girl at that time had just lost mother and had no help from mum as expected. two troubles.infact this opens a case . who is the father who impregnated the juvenile. 2 years down the line another idiot causes harm to this young girl. The sister should be on her side. if they were in discusion she would have voiced her intentions and raised alarm. her shivering might be severe regret at what she had done. no sane mother can kill own child. so her sanity should be investigated. MY lecturer PROF ATSINA IN MEDICAL SCHOOL ONCE SAID. WE ARE ALL MAD BUT SOME ARE MORE MAD THAN OTHERS. I guess social circumstances determine how mad we are

What will drive a mother to kill a day old baby? she could not afford abortion? was she abused and abandoned by her family? A family member claims that she does not have any mental health issues......wow, by just looking at her face you could tell whether or not she has any mental health issues. I am not a physician but I do know that even postpartum depression is considered a serious mental health issue. Our society is rotten.....there is no counseling or any other help whatsoever...get pregnant...go into labor.... pay the bill....get discharged....Life is too cheap in Ghana.

(PPD) is a complex mix of physical, emotional, and behavioral changes that happen in a woman after giving birth. According to the DSM IV, a manual used to diagnose mental disorders, PPD is a form of major depression that has its onset within four weeks after delivery. The diagnosis of postpartum depression is based not only on the length of time between delivery and onset, but also on the severity of the depression
What Is Postpartum Depression?
Postpartum depression is linked to chemical, social, and psychological changes associated with having a baby. The term describes a range of physical and emotional changes that many new mothers experience. The good news is postpartum depression can be treated with medication and counseling.
The chemical changes involve a rapid drop in hormones after delivery. The actual link between this drop and depression is still not clear. But what is known is that the levels of estrogen and progesterone, the female reproductive hormones, increase tenfold during pregnancy. Then, they drop sharply after delivery. By three days after a woman gives birth, the levels of these hormones drop back to what they were before she got pregnant.
In addition to these chemical changes, social and psychological changes associated with having a baby create an increased risk of depression.
What Are the Symptoms of Postpartum Depression?
Symptoms of postpartum depression are similar to what happens normally following childbirth. They include lack of sleep, appetite changes, excessive fatigue, decreased libido, and frequent mood changes. However, these are also accompanied by other symptoms of major depression, which may include depressed mood; loss of pleasure; feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, and helplessness; and thoughts of death or suicide.
What Are the Risk Factors for Getting Postpartum Depression?
A number of factors can increase the risk of postpartum depression, including:
a history of depression during pregnancy
age at time of pregnancy -- the younger you are, the higher the risk
ambivalence about the pregnancy
children -- the more you have, the more likely you are to be depressed in a subsequent pregnancy
having a history of depression or premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
limited social support
living alone
marital conflict
Who Is at Risk for Postpartum Depression?
Most new mothers experience the "baby blues" after delivery. About one out of every 10 of these women will develop a more severe and longer-lasting depression after delivery. About one in 1,000 women develops a more serious condition called postpartum psychosis.

At 16, Esi is still a baby how much more having a baby of 2years.
What happened to the man who had a child with Esi when she was an infant (13years)?
If the man who made her pregnant at 13 years was left free, then the system never treated this young girl fairly.
It is unfortunate Esi could not bear the problem of taking care of 2year old child plus a baby and for that reason entered into a serious crime.
I suspect that her mother was her care-taker and she lost her when she was still young.
May i believe that Esi's father could not guide the daughter in the absence of the mother?
May be her sister,Augusta Abena, is not giving her any helping hand and had not been advising her as well.
If anything at all, Esi is still a juvenile and she has to be treated as such. If she has to be imprisoned she should be put under a programm which would enable her to acquire some skill when she comes out.
May the Almighty God help this young girl.
