Let competency be your guide - fred oware

Leading contender to the NPP chairmanship position, Fred Oware, has urged the Party’s delegates to base their electoral decision on April 12th, 2014, in Tamale, on the loyalty and competency of the candidate. He said this, when he met with some Party executives in the Eastern Region, as part of his last lap of campaigning.
According to Mr. Oware, following the propaganda by the NDC to tag the NPP as an akan-dominated Party, some delegates were considering voting for a non-akan, just to satisfy the NDC’s whims, instead of looking out for a loyal candidate with the right managerial pedigree, to lead the NPP to victory.
Mr. Oware, who is currently the First-Vice Chairman of the NPP, wondered how the lame tagging of the Party as akan-based could hold, especially, when its ten (10) elected National Executives were made up of five (5)officers from the northern part of Ghana, and only three (3) from Akan regions.
He asked delegates to the Party’s Conference in Tamale, to be guided by a candidate’s loyalty, sacrifices, integrity, and competency, to elect their new national executives. “It cannot be in our interest, if our decision at this National Delegates Conference is bent towards debunking NDC’s baseless propagandist criticism especially when their primary interest is to keep us in opposition” he asserted.
According to Mr. Oware, his long standing dedicated relationship with the Party since the days of Professor Adu Boahen , his managerial experience in the private and public sector, as well as his current position as First Vice-Chairperson, had put him in the best of positions to manage the affairs of the Party, as its National Chairman.
He promised to apply the knowledge he has acquired over the period, to serve the Party well and unify it to ensure victory for the NPP, come 2016.
Commenting on calls by some incensed Party faithfuls to “clear” the current crop of national executives, who had failed to lead the NPP to victory 2012, Mr. Oware said while their calls may be warranted to an extent, it was always wise to appoint one who had had the opportunity of being in a position to know at first hand, what had gone wrong, in order to put things right.
He further advised the delegates not to be swayed by candidates who dole out money and make dreamy promises, but rather, elect the person who will be capable of effectively managing money and logistics, in order to ensure smooth Party operations.
The NPP will on Saturday, April 12th, elect its National executives, to manage the Party to Election 2016. Mr. Fred Oware is contesting the National Chairmanship Position, and is fourth (4th) on the ballot.
