Losing 2016 will not collapse NPP but...- Nyaho

Founder member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, has disagreed with another stalwart of the party, Former Chief Executive Officer for the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, that the NPP might return to the opposition, thus, “collapse if it does not win the 2016 elections”.

According to him, the party’s survival in Ghana’s politics now lies in the ability of the newly elected national executives, headed by Mr. Paul Akofo, to wrestle power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, also known as ‘Tarzan,’ stated categorically that “no serious person would like to associate with a party in perpetual opposition” if the current executives fail to win election 2016.

But Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe appears to share a contrary view. He told Asempa FM in an interview that he strongly believes the party [NPP] will not collapse if the new executives fail to re-capture power.

“I will not say collapse of the party…rather the party leadership has to be overhauled totally. The party needs to unite to win power and Paul Afoko [elected chairman] is capable of doing that. He has already begun. If they fail to win power, the leadership must be overhauled,” he stressed.
