Account for NPP's Campaign Funds - GAKE Responds to Boakye Agyarko

Fellow Ghanaians,
Our attention has been drawn to a publication in the print media purported to have been issued by Mr. Boakye Agyarko, the Campaign Manager of Nana Akufo-Addo for the 2012 elections. The publication is entitled; "Boakye Agyarko Responds to Alan Kyerematen's Claims...". In fact, the response seeks to level serious allegations on Hon. Alan Kyerematen and indicts his credibility probably with the view to making Alan unpopular among the NPP delegates. As readers would recall, this is the second time within the last two months that Mr. Agyarko has come out publicly to court public hatred for Alan Kyerematen.

We, members of Get Alan Kyerematen Elected (GAKE) are the least enthused about Mr. Agyarko's persistent personal attacks on Alan Kyerematen, especially when all members of the NPP are being called upon to keep the internal contest clean. GAKE therefore sees Mr. Agyarko's statement as one of the Communist Inferior Tactics meant to destroy Alan's smooth campaign and that, we will not sit down unconcerned for Mr. Agyarko to have his way.

GAKE would like to bring to the attention of the public that, Mr. Boakye Agyarko was one of the 17 NPP flag- bearer aspirants during the 2007 Congress. Upon becoming the Presidential Candidate of the NPP in 2010, Nana Akufo-Addo nominated Mr. Agyarko as his Campaign Manager for the 2012 elections. In view of this, all Campaign funds and resources were channeled through Mr. Agyarko's office.

It was therefore the expectation of all and sundry that, the NPP would win the 2012 elections hands down because of the massive resources pumped into the campaign. Unfortunately, all that Mr. Boakye Agyarko and his team could do with such resources was to retain the NPP in opposition. What was more serious about the 2012 elections was that, Nana Akufo-Addo's popular votes were reduced from 49.13% in 2008 to 47.74% in 2012 with Mr. Agyarko as the Campaign Manager. Besides, the six (6) regions previously won by the NPP were also reduced to a struggling two (2).

GAKE believes that, instead of Mr. Agyarko accounting for his stewardship, especially as regards the reasons why the NPP lost miserably in Election 2012, he has not found it necessary to do that. Again, instead of accounting for the missing 150 party vehicles and other campaign funds, Mr. Agyarko is only interested in running Alan Kyerematen down. Furthermore, instead of Mr. Agyarko apologizing to the NPP fraternity for retaining the party into opposition, he is just peddling falsehoods on Alan to tarnish the good man's reputation. And instead of Agyarko accounting for the $2m apparently used for the purchase of mobile phones to Polling Agents to text electoral results, this man is hiding behind accountability. As we write today, the NPP still owes the party's Polling Agents who assisted in the 2012 general elections. If, Mr. Agyarko as the Campaign Manager, and Nana Addo as the Presidential Candidate cannot account for NPP's campaign resources, how can they tackle corruption when voted into power as leaders?

GAKE therefore finds is quiet absurd as to why Nana Akufo-Addo has not bothered to call Mr. Boakye Agyarko to order for his attacks on Alan Kyerematen. Could it be that Nana Addo is behind such dirty remarks by Mr. Boakye Agyarko? If not, why the silence? It took the same Akufo-Addo six (6) good years before he came out publicly to say that former president Kufuor supported him in all his presidential bids, when the harm had already been done on the noble man. He is sitting at his "Opposition Flagstaff House" at Nima and allowing his boys to take Hon. Alan Kyerematen to the cleaners. For Mr. Boakye Agyarko to have made a statement like; "In Mr. Kyerematen's mind, following Nana Addo around the country and speaking just before him was his idea of participation in the campaign" speaks volumes of Mr. Agyarko's personal hatred for Alan Kyerematen. But, as the late Bob Markey said; "Who Jah bless, no one curse".

GAKE would like to assure the public that, Alan will not be detracted by such negativities at all. He is currently touring the country and selling his message of hope to the NPP delegates. Alan is constantly appealing to the delegates to give him the chance to lead the party to victory in 2016. He is determined to restructure the party by providing financial support to party executives who would work for the party. This, Alan believes, would serve as a motivation for them to protect the ballot boxes and electoral results to avoid another Supreme Court. Alan's pre-occupation has been to harness individual capabilities to create jobs, add value to our agricultural products, and modernize the country for our benefit. He has no time to engage in media war with any NPP member. God is his witness.

GAKE; one more change for power. Join GAKE as we set to have our National Conference & Fund-raising on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Kumasi.
