A Member of Parliament and deputy minister, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has set tongues wagging after he expressed the opinion on TV that pretty women are only as good their looks can fetch them.

YEN.com.gh has chanced upon a Facebook post that purports to quote Eugene Boakye Antwi, Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin and deputy minister for Works and Housing saying "...If you are a pretty woman and you do not have a man to take care of you, then where does your prettiness take you."

The lawmaker was reportedly on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana, a current affairs programme to discuss issues of national concern.

Unsurprisingly, the comments from Antwi elicited a lot of varied reactions on the page of Becce Quaicoe, the initial poster.

Christine Enyonam Ayem responded, "Really? The gods must be crazy".

Another respondent, Mercy C. Adjabeng, added: "Of course you’ll be confused!!!! If indeed the deputy minister, MP, an associate member of the Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK, a former CEO and father of 6 makes such a comment, it’s really confusing. Becky I definitely agree."

Another person who felt disappointed and added, "I die! Did he say that? God please don't give this man female children."
