GLO–CAF Awards: Salif Keita, Lagbaja, Yvonne Chaka Chaka to Entertain

Accra, Dec. 10, 2012:- As the countdown to 2012 Glo-CAF Awards begins, top African artistes have been lined up to entertain at the Awards night holding in Accra, Ghana, on 20 December, 2012.

Top on the list is the sensational, Salif Keita, an afro-pop singer cum songwriter from Mali, who is rated highly because of his reputation as the "Golden Voice of Africa".

Also billed to perform is South African singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka who is expected to thrill the audience with a repertoire which includes hit tunes like "I'm Burning Up", "I Cry for Freedom", "Sangoma", "Motherland" and the ever-popular "Umqombothi".

‘Lagbaja’, Nigeria’s mysterious masked artiste is expected to keep the night alive with his Afro-Calypso genre of music, a product of various influences ranging from traditional Yoruba music to Jazz. The masked man is expected to enliven the auditorium with his scintillating dance steps and rhythmic talking drums. Also billed to perform is Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa, a group that married the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South African musical traditions to the sounds and sentiments of Christian gospel music.

The result is an electrifying alchemy of musical rhythms that has touched a worldwide audience, representing every corner of the religious, cultural and ethnic landscape. Their musical efforts over the past four decades have garnered fans and accolades within the recording industry, as well as solidified their identity as a cultural force to be reckoned with.

Also very visible on the night’s bill will be a lineup of popular Ghanaian performers, drawn mostly from Glo’s star-studded corps of brand ambassadors, who will entertain the international audience and add local flavour and colour to the ceremony.

Clearly, an exciting and fun-filled evening awaits the audience at the Banquet Hall, State House, in Accra, come December 20, 2012.
