Columnist: Unity NPP

Freddie Blay & Daily Guide must respect NPP

The first National Vice Chairman of NPP, Freddie Blay, must be held accountable for his own newspaper, the Daily Guide publication of twisted happenings at the last National Council Meeting, headline; ‘AFOKO FLOORED AT NPP NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING’. This is clearly a mischief driven publication of twisted realities at the said meeting. Surprisingly enough, Mr. Freddie Blay, our first vice chairman of NPP is the CEO of this very newspaper responsible for such publication.

We are therefore right to question Mr. Freddie Blay about how his newspaper got to know the details at the National council meeting held on the 6th June 2014. We are reliably aware that Mr. Blay attended and sat all through the meeting. He must come to understand that, our party respected him in Tamale for his previous partnership with NPP, and for the whiplash he endured for it by his own. Mr. Blay must respect the oath of secrecy and the urgent need to keep party top meetings from reaching his newspaper. Why must Daily Guide be used by our own First National Vice Chairman to undermine the Chairman of the NPP? We are amazed that the Daily Guide, a supposed friendly newspaper to our party, is the only Newspaper which has published details National Council meeting which was held behind the closed doors. We are also aware, details of a previous steering committee meeting has been discussed with the newspaper by a mole. This is unhealthy and undermines the secrecy of the party. We are determined to fish out the mole and will petition the National Chairman at the appropriate time.

It is very important for the integrity and credibility of Mr. Freddie Blay, and for the peace and unity of NPP for hi, to come publicly to tell us how his newspaper got to know of top secrets of National Council meeting. He must tell us what he has done about this frightening dangerous publication that seeks to divide and destroy NPP. Mr. Blay must publicly condemn this act by his newspaper which has invited party and public outrage.

As party officers and members in this group, we cannot afford to sit on the side-lines for seeds that seek to malign, undermine and side line our national officers to a succeed. Mr. Freddie Blay must know that if we fall, we fall as one party and if we must rise then we must as one united and patriotic party. Mr. Freddie Blay must also remember that, if he wants to become national chairman of NPP, undermining Chairman Paul Afoko is surely the wrong way. Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong and the rest of the steering committee remain the legitimate leaders of our great party for the next four years and any party member seeking to undermine them does so at their peril and in fact contravenes Article 3 of our Party’s constitution.

Going forward, NPP needs strong, serious, bold, purposeful, fair, firm and reconciliatory leadership. Not leaders who seek to sabotage their party and superiors.

Insha Allah, 2016 will be victory for NPP.

Thank you.

God Bless NPP
