Afriyie Ankrah to attend Ghana Golf Awards

The Minister of Youth & Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah would be among the dignitaries that would grace the maiden edition of the Ghana Golf Awards fixed for Sunday, December 22.

The minister gave this assurance when executives of the Ghana Golf Association called on him at his office on Wednesday, to brief him on preparations made towards the event.

The minister said he has observed the GGA for the past years and is inspired by their self-sustaining approach towards the development of the game in Ghana. He, however, added that his outfit is there for all sporting disciplines and not football biased as being speculated.

The Minister also commended the GGA for developing an award scheme that would recognize the efforts of outstanding golfers in the year.

Mr. Mike Aggrey, vice president of the GGA said they have over the years made efforts to avert the misconceptions about golf adding that, the ceremony is part of efforts to make the game popular among people.

The delegation from the GGA included President Dr. Felix K. Frimpong and General Secretary Group Captain F. Gyimah Kwakye.

The event, scheduled for the Events Haven, Trade Fair Center, La Accra would be under the distinguished patronage of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II and would be sponsored by UT Bank Ghana Limited, Euro Star Travel and Tours, Vanguard Insurance, Special Ice Mineral Water, Cal Bank Ghana Limited, GGBL and Jandel.
