Participate in the immunization programme – NCCE

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has appealed to the chiefs and people of the Jomoro District to cooperate and ensure the success of the on-going National Immunization programme in the area.

Mr Albert Awuah, the Jomoro District Assistant Civic Education Officer of NCCE, made the appeal saying he expected the turn-out for the period would be higher than previous years.

He made the appeal at a forum organized by the Western Regional Coalition of NGOs at Efasu in the Jomoro District.

The event was meant to sensitize the people on the importance of the programme and the need to participate in it.

Madam Patience Amoah, Secretary of the African women Development and Western Regional Coalition of NGOs, said the Jomoro, Asankrangwa and Juabuso Districts recorded very low turn-outs in the 2012 National Immunization programme.

She also urged the people to monitor the incidence of Guinea worms in their communities and report them to health facilities.

Mr Mathew Abize, Executive Director of Hands for rural Development, an NGO operating in the Nzema East District, appealed to parents who because of their religious beliefs, refuse to have their children immunized to change their mindsets.
