The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended its best wishes to all Ghanaians as the country joins the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

“Our warmest felicitations go to all Ghanaians on the occasion of Christmas which is observed and celebrated as a landmark on the Christian calendar. It is a period of sharing, reconciliation and preaching of love, peace and goodwill to all."

A release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Accra, and signed by Mr James Asante, Communications Director of the party said the NDC was strongly embedded in this belief and viewed the occasion as a special period for the nation, irrespective of religion, creed, and tribe to continue to preach peace, love, forgiveness and reconciliation to mankind.

It said, “We believe the bond of love and unity has undoubtedly earned Ghana her invaluable recognition as a very peaceful democratic country with an enviable record of upholding the rule of law and freedom of expression which are essential requirements in any multi-party democratic environment.

According to the release, the NDC also believed the nation’s sense of patriotism, unity and love played a pivotal role in the just ended peaceful elections which had further deepened the country’s democratic process and, confirmed the global recognition of Ghana as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

It urged all Ghanaians not to relent in their efforts to pray for God’s love and peace to enable the country to consolidate the prevailing peace and stability as the nation prosecuted the Better Ghana Agenda.

It said the NDC wished to also use the occasion to entreat motorists and Ghanaians in general to observe strictly the traffic regulations, drive safely and be moderate in their celebration to ensure a very peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.
