Organised Labour sabotaging NDC government - Group

The much anticipated nationwide demonstration by Organised Labour over what they say is the declining economic conditions in the country is an attempt to sabotage government’s efforts at recovering the dire state of the economy, a pro-government group, Reform for Youth Empowerment has said.

According to the group, the impending demonstration forms part of a grand plan by the leadership of Organised Labour to ensure that the NDC government fails.

A statement signed by the groups General Secretary Ebenezer Arkutu, Wednesday, July 23, said, “It is without controversy and doubt that Organized Labour led by TUC is in indecent haste to see the NDC Government fail – hence the intended nation-wide strike and/or demonstration on Thursday, 24th July 2014 clearly is meant to sabotage and undermine the ongoing efforts towards economic recovery”.

According to the group, it is insensitive for labour to create the impression as though the president doesn’t care about the state of affairs in the country.

”This egomania sponsored demonstration speaks to the growing evidence that unlike ordinary workers, the leadership of Organized Labour is unwilling to sacrifice and support the NDC’s government medium and long- term (pragmatic) economic measures to finding lasting solutions to reoccurring short-term fiscal challenges often occasioned by volatilities inherent in the import market structured economy,” it stated.

The group is, therefore, calling on the leadership of labour to as a matter of urgency, call off the Thursday strike and use their time and energy help the president to develop the country.
