Cocoa farmers ask PBC to rehabilitate shed

Amanfopong (C/R), Feb. 28, GNA - Cocoa farmers at Amanfopong, a farm= ing community between Akim Oda and Breman Brakwa are asking the Produce Buying Company (PBC), a cocoa licensed buying company, to rehabilitate the society's cocoa shed in the town.

The shed's roofing sheets were ripped-off during a heavy rainstorm about three months ago. Speaking to newsmen at Amanfopong, a spokesperson for the farmers, Nan= a Atoapem Boadu Ayeboafo, Regent of the town, said cocoa farmers at Amanfopon= g and its surrounding villages had been selling their cocoa beans to the PBC for quite a long time, but their persistent request to have the shed rehabilitated had been ignored. Nana Ayeboafo stressed that the farmers might be compelled to send their produce to an alternative licensed buying company operating in the area, if the PBC authorities continued to turn down their request to rehabilitate the society's shed.

Nana Ayeboafo expressed optimism that the PBC would this time around initiate steps to rehabilitate the shed to avoid any further deterioration.
