Takoradi Road Safety Commission meets with stakeholders

The Western Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Alhaji Sumani Mbo, said on Friday that it was regrettable for the country's productive population to perish through preventable road crashes.

He said in developing countries in particular, men who are bread winners of their families continued to die in road crashes that were sometimes avoidable.

Alhaji Mbo said this at the first quarter meeting of stakeholders of the NRSC in Takoradi.

He said the Commission was particularly worried at the trend and pleaded with drivers to be more careful on the road, adding the increase in the fleet of vehicles on the road could also increase the spate of accidents.

The NRSC Boss said the Commission's quest to curb accidents had resulted in the development of a work plan termed "strategy 3” together with the Ghana Police and other stakeholders to reduce accidents on the roads.
