Regina Rejoice Tegbe Award for Excellence launched

Mrs Patricia Akpene Tegbe- Agbo, Board Chairperson of Vakpo Senior High Technical School (VASTECH) has launched the Regina Rejoice Tegbe-Award for Excellence, with a call on parents especially single mothers not to compromise the education of their children due to their circumstances.

She said, as parents, the education of their children should be paramount and be given priority over all other luxuries of life, adding this would be the only way to ensure a secured future for them.

Mrs. Tegbe- Agbo made the call at the maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day of VASTECH under the theme: “Creativity in Secondary Technical Education, a Tool for Addressing Unemployment in Ghana”.

She said the Regina Rejoice Tegbe Excellence Award was instituted by she and her siblings in honour of their mother, an educationist who went the extra mile to provide them with quality education after the demise of their father, while they were still very young.

“In her determination to ensure that all of us received the best of education, our mother, with her meager teacher’s salary, girded her loins and did all within and beyond her strength to provide us with quality education.

“Today, we wish to honour this great woman, our heroine, by sponsoring the Award for all the two Overall Best Students and the two Most Outstanding Teachers for this first Speech and Prize-Giving day. We trust God that this would be sustained as long as we live and it would be expanded to include other areas of education in the Vakpo Community where she hails from,” she said.

The beneficiaries received parcels and an undisclosed amount of money. On behalf of the recipients, Mr Lord Nelson Gbesemete, former headmaster of the school, registered their appreciation to the organisers for the honour done them. He promised that the awards would propel them to continue to give of their best.

The occasion was witnessed by Mr Francis Ganyaglo, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Timinka, District Chief Executive of North Dayi and the District Director of Education among other dignitaries.
