Israeli Ambassador tours MASHAV’s Tamale kindergarten schools

Israeli Ambassador in Ghana, Ms Sharon Bar-li, has visited four kindergarten schools participating in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme being undertaken in Tamale by MASHAV, Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation.

Ms Bar-li visited the Queen Elizabeth, Lamashegu, Saint Peter's and Danin-Sheli kindergarten schools respectively where she, watched lessons being taught according to the training techniques.

Ms Mina Okuru, Public Diplomacy Coordinator of the Embassy, said in a statement copied to the GNA on Wednesday that the ambassador also interacted with the head teachers, including the children to find out progress of the project.

The Ambassador met the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Chief Director, the Assembly members and Metropolitan Ghana Education Service (GES), Ms Okuru said.

According to her, Mr Hanan Abdul-Rahman Gundadow, Metropolitan GES Director expressed appreciation to MASHAV for its support and commitment to the ECD programme in Tamale.

He urged Israeli businessmen to consider investing in the metropolis since there are vast investment opportunities.

Ms Okuru said Ambassador Bar-li and the GES Director discussed how to deepen collaboration between MASHAV and the Tamale office of the GES, for the success of the program.

The two expressed belief that the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation between MASHAV and the GES would establish a stronger framework for the future of the program in Ghana, she added.

MASHAV’s specialist took 30 kindergarten teachers and head teachers last month for two-week training on learning through play.

The training marked the third session in Tamale, after joining MASHAV’S ECD about a year ago, in the ongoing Israeli early childhood education project in Kumasi and Accra.

MASHAV's ECD programme is a collaborative effort between Israel’s Development Agency, the Ghana Education Service, the Metropolitan Assemblies of Tamale, Accra and Kumasi.
