Africa trapped in a ‘Babylonian economic system’ – Ashimolowo

Africans have been boxed into a Babylonian economic system that pigeonholes their potential and growth, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) in London, Mathew Ashimolowo has said.

Speaking about “Living in the overflow” at this year’s ‘Greater Works Conference’ organised by renowned Ghanaian preacher, Dr Mensa Otabil of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), the Nigerian preacher said Ghana and Africa must liberate themselves from the suppressive Babylonian economic system.

“It is not the economy of Ghana that determines your destiny; it is not the president of Ghana with all due respect that determines your future; it is not the members of parliament that determine your future…you must not let a Babylonian system determine where you go in life," Ashimolowo urged his audience in the Ghanaian national capital, Accra.

“The Babylonian system was not started by Ghana: it was started by Babylon, adopted by the West and passed on to all of her Commonwealth babies," he noted.

“Once you go to school, they already have a salary scale for a first degree; they already have a salary scale for a master’s degree, they already have a salary scale for a PhD, they already have a salary scale for a permanent secretary; for officer grade one, level 2, level 4, level 10…," Ashimolowo defined.

“Who is setting your level? Is it the system or God…God has called you to realise that you’re bigger than a man’s level, you’re bigger than the system…you’re bigger than the determination of a government and I want you to know that in spite of the state of the economy, your life will experience abundance. Your source is not Ghana, your source is not Africa…” he told the crowd.

He encouraged Christians in Africa and the world over to break the shackles of the Babylonian economic system and avail themselves of the abundance in the world.

“Don’t operate by Babylonian systems…I didn’t call Ghana system a Babylonian system…I’m calling all democracies: they operate by a Babylonian economic system that fixes everybody in a box…no you’re bigger than that!”
