Ghana not scared of any team - Kwesi Appiah

Kwesi Appiah insists Ghana will not be intimidated by their group opponents and by extension no team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Africans will come up against ‘old friends’ USA and Germany as well as Portugal in a difficult group G games.

The Black Stars are seeking to go a step further in the South American country after a progressive outing in the last two editions.

However, they are faced with the stark reality of qualifying from a group which has two of Europe’s powerful forces – Germany and Portugal who boast of an array of world class players who can shut the ambitions of the West African giants.

But coach Kwesi Appiah has insisted his charges cannot be intimidated by their opponents.

“We don’t fear people. We respect them. We have all qualified on merit and so there is no issue about fear,” he said.

“I don’t see my team scared of any other team at the World Cup. We’ll take every match as it comes. The important thing is to have our players ready for the tournament.”

“If we’re afraid, then why do we go there in the first place? “We also have quality players who play in Europe and other Leagues with these same players.

The Ghanaian trainer will reveal his provisional 30-man squad for the tournament on May 13.
