Kotoko striker Bancey wants to end goal-drought

Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey says he is having sleepiness nights after going six matches without scoring.

Bancey was leading scorer before the African Nations Championship (CHAN) break in January but has struggled to continue where he left off.

He has not scored since he banged in two goals in the 4-1 win over AshantiGold on match day 20 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Bancey is now two goals behind top scorer Augustine Okrah who has raked in 12 goals.

With four matches to the end of the season, the former Dwarfs marksman has a strong belief of staging a comeback.

“I am not happy that I am not scoring. I am unable to sleep because my duty is to perform, my duty is to score,” Bancey told the club’s website.

“The goals are not coming but that is not the end. The competition is far from over. Anything can happen in the remaining matches. I will be scoring to claim the goal king title.”

Bancey concedes he must do more to find his scoring boots on.

“The situation is not the same as we started. Things are getting tougher. I have to do more. I have to buck up. I have to score. It is not late,” he added.

“In one, two or three matches, a player can score as many as possible so I am eager to score. I will get over this.”
