Gyimah in a shock move to Black Aces

South Africa-based midfielder Edwin Gyimah has been shockingly joined little-fancied Mpumalanga Black Aces from SuperSport United in the top-flight league.

The Black Stars midfielder signed a one-year outright deal with the AmaZayoni on Thursday even though he is a key player for SuperSport.

“Aces today met with the agent and player and signed an outright purchase for a permanent transfer to AmaZayoni,” read a statement on the official Aces website.

Aces co-chairman, Mario Morfou, has expressed delight at having signed Gyimah, saying he now firmly believed that the squad has a pedigree to be very competitive this season.

“Edwin is an excellent player and a genuine marque signing and we are delighted to have him playing in the Aces colours this season,” said Morfou.

Gyimah will join Aces at training tomorrow (Friday), and is expected to play a friendly against Baroka FC on Saturday.

Just last week, Gyimah was linked to a move to Turkey, but in a twist of events, the Ghanaian defender-cum-midfielder has joined Clive Barker’s team for the 2014/2015 season, according to the report.

Gyimah joined SuperSport in 2011 from Ghanaian club Wa All Stars, and made his international debut a year later.

He had looked set to join a club in Europe, with Turkey being the likely destination, but it now seems he will continue his career in South Africa for at least another season.

Gyimah made 23 appearances in the PSL for SuperSport last season, and scored one goal.
