‘Hearts will clinch league title this season’

Hearts striker Gilbert Fiamenyo remains defiant about his side’s chances of reclaiming the Ghana Premier League crown this season.

The Premier League title has eluded the club for the past five years as they have painfully watched on as their arch-rivals Kotoko keep winning year after year.

Hearts are determined to stem the tide this season and have vowed to recapture their lost glory.

However, the dream could be scattered as they are believed to be struggling to land their targeted players.

The club has not made any high-profile signing with reports suggesting the financial demands from the players have become a stumbling block.

But striker Gilbert Fiamenyo, who joined the side from Heart of Lions two seasons ago is confident Hearts will win the league this season.

“We know it’s going to be pretty tough this season but with hard work, commitment and determination, we can win the league,” he said.

“The players are aware that we cannot disappoint our fans again. They have suffered for far too long and it’s time we make them happy.

“I am convinced that this season will be our year. We have to win the league and cannot offer any more excuses.”

Hearts lost 1-0 to Heart of Lions in the annual GHALCA top-four opening game on Saturday.
