Rahim Ayew frustated by Kotoko defeat to AshGold

Asante Kotoko defender Rahim Ayew admits he is disappointed with their opening 1-0 defeat to regional rival Ashanti Gold in the GHALCA Top 4.

The Porcupine Warriors were made to pay dearly for their wastefulness in front of goal after Francis Adjei pounced on a loose ball late on that should have been dealt with by the Kotoko defence to grab all three points for the miners.

The league and FA cup champions tried to stage a comeback but AshGold held on to record a moral boosting win against Kotoko.

Ayew admits the score line did not tell the whole story.

“We played well but we were all expecting to win which unfortunately did not happen,” Ayew told GHANASoccernet.com

“You know when you are champions you are expected to win almost every game and we will have to quickly refocus for the second encounter.

“I am down now but I have to start thinking about the second leg.”
