Prince Boateng to undergo late fitness test

Schalke boss Roberto Di Matteo will subject Kevin-Prince Boateng to a late fitness test before adding him to his matchday squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon.

The Ghana forward suffered a knock in Saturday’s derby win over Hertha Berlin.

Boateng alongside Joel Matip are said to be the players carrying slight injuries going into Tuesday’s clash.

The duo will thus be made to past a late fitness test to stand any chance of facing Sporting.

New boss Roberto Di Matteo wants to keep his side fresh but is also mindful of the club’s ambitions to secure progress in the Champions League.

And with the two players considered key to Schalke’s progress, Di Matteo is left with a hard decision to take a few hours before naming his squad for the game tonight.
