Gyan rates Wakaso goal

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has described Wakaso Mubarak’s strike against the Hawks of Togo as a masterpiece.

The Celtic midfielder delivered a thunderous 29-yarder to double Ghana’s lead when the Black Stars hosted the Hawks in their Nations Cup qualifier last Wednesday in Tamale.

Gyan said in an interview that “I think it can compete for any world class goal, it is his best ever, and it can score any goalkeeper.”

Apart from recording his name on the score sheet, the former Espanyol playmaker contributed immensely in the victory that handed Ghana their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ticket for the Equatorial Guinea championship.

Wakaso emerged joint top scorer when Gabon co-hosted the Nations Cup with Equatorial Guinea in 2012.

Striker Abdul Majeed Waris opened the scoring with a splendid header and Wakaso made it two before the break, while an Agyeman Badu effort resulted in an own goal to seal the victory for the Ghanaians.
