Ghana lose Under-17 age-cheating appeal

African football governing body Caf has rejected Ghana’s appeal over a ban following age-cheating in the 2015 African Under-17 championship qualifiers.

Caf handed Ghana a ban after Cameroon filed a protest against seven players of the team on September 13th, 2014 after the 1st leg match of the 3rd round of the Niger 2015 U-17 Championship qualifiers which Ghana won 2-1.

Out of the seven players, the Caf Medical Committee made adverse findings against two players and subsequently handed Ghana the ban.

However, the GFA appealed against the decision but the continent’s football governing body sat on the case Friday and rejected the appeal.

“We found Ghana's appeal to be baseless and it holds no water so the ban still stands,” a Caf official confirmed to Footballmadeinghana.
