Appiah undertakes first training session with Al Khartoum SC

Former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah got off to work as head coach of Sudanese side Al Khartoum SC with his first training session with the club on Wednesday afternoon.

The 54-year-old who signed a two-year-contract at the club last week to replace Egyptian trainer Hamza Gamil took his new team through some physical drills and tactical talks on his first day at training.

Accompanied by his assistant Prince Yaw Owusu, the Ghanaian duo showed seriousness to their work as they started their first training session hours after being outdoored by the club.

Appiah was sacked as Ghana coach in September this year after failing to guide the Black Stars go beyond the Group stage at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Appiah will lead the club in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers after the military-owned team finished fourth in the just ended season.

Al Khartoum have big ambitions of making an impact in Africa.
