Kotoko receive Nathaniel Asamoah transfer fee

Footy-ghana.com has learnt that Premier League champions Asante Kotoko has finally received an amount of €180,000 representing transfer fees owed the club by Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade over the sale of striker Nathaniel Asamoah.

Footy-ghana.com sources understands that following the failure of Red Star Belgrade to pay the transfer fee at the time, one of Ghana’s top legal firms, Minkah Premo, took the matter up on behalf of Asante Kotoko and reported the matter to world governing body FIFA.

FIFA then ordered Red Star Belgrade to pay the transfer fee of €200,000 plus 10% interest for every month that the payment delays.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Red Star Belgrade was soon taken over by new investors who contacted Asante Kotoko in a bid to reach an agreement over the issue.

Our sources further reveal that Asante Kotoko agreed to a proposal by Red Star Belgrade’s new owners to pay a lump sum of €180,000 and footy-ghana.com can confirm that the money hit Asante Kotoko’s accounts a couple of weeks ago.

Some associates of the Opoku Nti-led administration had previously publicly accused the Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong-led regime of failing to account for the transfer fee, but this latest revelation exonerates Dr. Sarpong, whose contacts ensured that the law firm Minkah Premo dealt with the club’s legal matters during his time in charge of Asante Kotoko.

Nathaniel Asamoah, who failed to make an impression in Belgrade, is now turning out for Medeama SC in the First Capital Plus Premier League.
