Maxwell Konadu to reject Kotoko overtures

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that former Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu will rebuff any attempt by the club to rehire him.

According to our sources, Konadu wants to concentrate on his roles as assistant coach of the Black Stars and the head coach of the locally based national side, the Local Black Stars.

Footy-ghana.com sources reveal that the power brokers at Manhyia asked the Asante Kotoko management to contact the Ghana Football Association for Konadu’s services, since the Manhyia power block remains opposed to the management’s choice of David Duncan as successor to Mas-Ud Dramani, who is currently on gardening leave.

Footy-ghana.com understands that the Opoku Nti-led management contacted GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi on the matter, but Konadu has told close associates that he is not interested.

Konadu guided Asante Kotoko to Premier League glory in 2012 and is currently scouting players in the First Capital plus League and the GN Bank Division One League as he prepares to take the Local Black Stars to the 2015 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in May in South Africa; a tournament to which Ghana has been invited.
