More Information
Surprise inclusion in Ghana's 2006 world cup squad to Germany. He was one of Ghana's most prominent defenders in the Ghanaian league prior to the worlc cup Earlier 2006, he trained with Maccabi Netanya, but was unable to clinch a transfer to Israel, where several of his international team-mates currently play. In 2004, Mohammed was named the Ghanaian league's best defender and he also impressed in the Otumfuo Invitational Cup last December. Mohammed produced a man-of-the-match display in King Faisal´s 1-0 semi-final defeat to Asante Kotoko - a performance which earned him a 20-inch colour television set! He was still uncapped when called into Ghana´s squad for the World Cup, but caught coach Ratomir Dujkovic's eye in the warm-up games against club sides. More Mohamed turned professional with King Faisal Babes in Ghana during 2004 and was loaned to Molde FC briefly during 2006. In 2007 he signed for Turkish side Ankaragucu but a year later returned and joined Asante Kotoko in Kumasi. In 2008 he joined All Stars but six months later moved to Great Olympics. He is currently on the books of Kotoko. Ex-Ghana defender Habib Mohammed says he is close to agreeing a deal to join Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea next season. The 27-year-old has returned home following the expiration of a two-year- contract with Egyptian side Smouha FC.
