New Okaff, Omni Fert donate towards National Farmers' Day celebration

Two leading agro based companies, Omni Fert and New Okaff Industries Limited, has donated towards the 39th edition of the National Farmers Day Celebration.
The donations were made at the forecourt of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in Accra on Wednesday, 15th November 2023.

New Okaff donated farm products worth Ghc 90,000 and a cheque of Ghc 10,000. Kwasi Boamah Adomako, Commercial Director of New Okaff Industries Limited, made the donation on behalf of his outfit.

Omni Fert presented a cheque of Ghc 50,000. Shaban Abdul-Manaf made the donation on behalf of Omni Fert. Receiving the donations on behalf of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, was the Deputy Minister of MoFA in charge of Crops, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo.

Hon. Frimpong Addo deputy minister in charge of crops thanked New Okaff Industries Limited and Omni Fert on behalf of the Minister for their continuous donations towards the celebration, encouraging other corporate organizations to donate in support of this year’s Farmers' Day Celebration.
This year’s National Farmers’ Day Celebration therefore provides us with an opportunity to highlight the importance of sustainable agriculture practices, celebrate the contributions of farmers, and reflect on the positives, as well as challenges currently impacting the well-being of farmers and Ghana’s agriculture in general.


The theme for this year’s Farmers’ Day Celebration, is ‘Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience”. The theme is appropriate and relevant to achieving food security in Ghana within the context of an increase in population growth and its accompanying food system issues.

The year's celebration would as usual be preceded by a 5-Day National Agricultural Festival, Agrifest Ghana 2023 which is slated from Monday, 27th November to Friday, 1st December 2023. Agrifest Ghana 2023 is expected to be held on the principal streets of the Ministerial enclave in Accra. The last day of Agrifest which marks the first Friday of December will be celebrated with an Awards Night Ceremony at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Auditorium where H E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana will confer national honours on best-performing farmers and fishers. A total of fifteen award categories will receive recognition at the Award Night in Tarkwa.
