Amoah who first to Switzerland in the summer of 1995 and paid his dues on the lower steps of the country's soccer ladder with Winterthur, Frauenfeld and Wil, has been likened in some quarters to great Ghanaian striker Tony Yeboah. According to another of that country's footballing legends, Abedi Pele, the comparison has some validity. "It probably puts too much pressure on Amoah when he's 'new Yeboah', but he is very talented" says pele "He's quick, he's has a powerful right-foot shot and is strong in the air. He just needs more top-level experience. The he will really come into his own." St.Gallen won the swiss championships 1999/00 for the first time after 96 (ninetysix) years! Amoah scored 40 goals in 16mths

He moved to Sturm Graz in Austria in 2000/2001 season

September 2003

Amoah has moved from the top Austrian first division team Sturm Graz to join another big in the Austrian T-Mobile League, Salzburg.
The 28-year-old moves to Salzburg at his own request in a bid to get more playing time. He spent most of the time on the bench of Sturm Graz last season. He told reporters at his presentation ceremony in that: "for me it is important that I can play regularly and compete at the highest level.I hope to bring my best to this club and to help them win silverware”
Amoah signed for Sturm Graz some two seasons ago at the request of Coach Gilbert Gress but lost his position when Gress departed.
He has been loaned out to Salzburg for one season to help them escape the drop as they are currently rooted at the bottom of the 10-team league table.

2005

He is currently playing with a team in austrias 3rd division called ASK Kottingbrunn, he hopes to get a decent club to play for the next season. Amoah said: " I am just happy to play football after my serious knee insury, and hoping to play in division one next season", austrian newspapers reported.

In 2001 Amoah was transfered for 3.93 millions Euros from Swiss club St. Gallen to Sturm Graz, but failed to impress. On 1 September 2003 Sturm Graz concluded a loan contract with Salzburg (until 31 May 2004) from wich Amoah was dismissed on 18 February 2004 without any notice. Amoah sued Sturm Graz because of not paying him salaries, and they finally came to an agreement out of court.
