Black Queens beat Egyptian

Accra (Greater Accra Region) 10 Oct. 1998 The national women soccer team, Black Queens beat their Egyptian's counterparts, Cleopatras 4-0 in their second leg friendly international football match played at the Accra Sports Stadium October 10.

The match, which formed part of the preparations of both teams towards the first Africa Women's Cup of Nations tournament slated for Nigeria next week, saw the Egyptians mounting intense pressure on their opponents from the first minute.

They could not however transform their superiority into goals as their attackers were jittery upfront.

Black Queens, who won the first leg in Cairo 3-1 two weeks ago rallied up and scored the first goal through inside left Alberta Sackey in the 42nd minute.

They continued their dominance and increased the tally to 2-0 in the 61st minute through left winger Vivian Mensah.

Substitute Adjoa Bayor scored the third goal for the Queens in the 70th minute before goalkeeper Shereen Shalaby of Cleopatras increased the tally with an own goal for the Queens a minute to full time. GRi
