The National Women's soccer team, the Black Queens whacked their South African counterparts, Bayana Bayana 4-0 in their opening group B match of the maiden Africa Nations Women's cup at the Gateway stadium in Abeokuta, Nigeria. According to Radio Ghana commentary monitored in Accra, the Queens netted twice in each half.
Ghana is in group B with South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho and Cameroun. The Queens play their next match against Lesotho on Wednesday, Octobers 21. In group A are Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two top teams of the tournament represent Africa in the Women's World Cup to be staged in the United States next year.
